One of the most celebrated paintings in the history of equestrian art. George Stubbs captured Whistlejacket — the undefeated racehorse owned by the Marquess of Rockingham — in a moment of pure, untamed power. Painted c. 1762, the deliberately plain background was Stubbs’ own choice, stripping away all distraction to place the horse at the absolute center of the composition. The original hangs in the National Gallery, London.
Now reproduced as a museum-quality framed matte canvas print, Whistlejacket commands any wall with the same authority he commanded the racetrack.
